What is Moot Court?

A moot court simulates a court hearing in which participants analyse a legal problem, research the primary sources, prepare written submissions and present oral argument. Moot court cases are most often in challenging areas of law or those subject to recent debate and developments. Moot court competitions are part of legal clinical education in many leading universities worldwide. The procedure reinforced legal analysis by practising in real courts: with the judge, the clerk, and the mooters presenting their submissions, the judge asking questions, delivering a brief judgment and providing feedback.

WHY Moot Court?

Mooting is an integral part of legal education, especially for training persuasive lawyers. It enhances students' legal research skills, critical writing and teaches them how to engage in depth with an interesting legal topic. Mooting also helps develop public speaking, debating, and communication skills, as well as working closely with a team, building professional networks with legal practitioners and partner organisations, and enhancing employability and career prospects.
