The Fix, a new documentary executive produced by Royal Holloway’s Helen Littleboy, has just been broadcast on BBC and is now available to view here on BBC iPlayer, having premiered at the Docs Ireland film festival. Directed by Aaron Black and produced and presented by Rory Carson, The Fix follows people and events at The Church on the Street in Burnley, Lancashire run by two former addicts with criminal pasts - Bishop Mick and Pastor Emma.

The filmmakers follow Mick and Emma as they deal with people in crisis arriving daily and looking for help with addiction, poverty and mental illness. Combining dark humour with warmth and difficult truths, Mick and Emma try to guide people towards change through their faith-based recovery programme Exodus. The Fix captures the reality of helping those on the edge of society who are living with addiction and explores what happens when a community steps in to support people who feel they have nowhere else to turn.
