Civic Minded, Globally Engaged
As a key pillar of Royal Holloway’s RH2030s strategy, this phrase embodies the dynamic interplay of local initiatives and global reach, central to our efforts in internationalisation. Our goal is to integrate and align teaching, research, and institutional partnerships for maximum impact.
To advance this vision, the School of Humanities has appointed Dr. Arantza Mayo and Dr. Weipin Tsai as Co-Directors of Internationalisation. Their leadership drives the development and implementation of the university's Global Engagement Strategic Action Plan, fostering international collaborations that benefit both students and staff. Our strategies focus on student mobility, research partnerships, knowledge exchange, and community building—preparing students for global citizenship while advancing cross-cultural scholarship.
Every year, the School welcomes international students, some joining for the full duration of their studies, and others arriving for one or two semesters from partner universities around the world. Initiatives like the Turing Scheme, which has replaced the Erasmus programme, provide our students with opportunities to study abroad and volunteer overseas.
Research collaboration forms a cornerstone of our internationalisation efforts. The School’s newsletter showcases global research and partnership projects spanning disciplines and borders. Additionally, we welcome visiting international researchers and postgraduate students, further enriching our diverse academic community. Our researchers collaborate with colleagues and institutions worldwide: from India to Italy, Poland to Pakistan, Australia to Spain, and beyond.
The School of Humanities exemplifies how internationalisation can seamlessly integrate student mobility, research partnerships, knowledge exchange, and community building preparing students for global citizenship while fostering groundbreaking scholarship.
