Matthew is a Professor of Public History and the Project Lead for Royal Holloway's £1.5m Arts and Humanities research Council (AHRC)-supported Inclusive Histories project, working with the AQA exam board, teachers, Multi-Academy Trusts, and nine museum, archive and library partners including People's History Museum, the Bishopsgate Institute and Black Cultural Archives to collaboratively research and produce educational resources to support the more inclusive teaching of British political history at GSCE.
Matthew has also recently acted as a consultant to The London Archives, supporting the development of its community engagement strategy, and is the Chair of Trustees at Egham Museum, a small but innovative 'teaching museum'. Other organisations Matthew has worked with include the UK Parliament and UK Supreme Court, Glasgow Women's Library, the Working Class Movement Library, the British Film Institute, Marx Memorial Library, The National Archives, and the History of Parliament Trust.
